Property SME Underwriting Manager

Purpose

The role will be responsible for:

  • The management of a Property & SME portfolio
  • Focusing on analyzing trends, patterns, and performance of a portfolio,
  • Case and Non-case underwriting to handle individual policies, and ensuring alignment with the company's risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.
  • Managing variety of Product and price optimization.
  • They are well-regarded for their knowledge of their portfolio.

Nature of Work

Key Accountabilities

  • The Portfolio Underwriter will independently underwrite case and non-case business for SME Portfolio.
  • Have influence in shaping their portfolio.
  • With a reasonable level of Underwriting Authority and a strong understanding of how the portfolio fits into the broader Underwriting strategy.
  • To conduct in-depth portfolio analysis to assess portfolio performance and identify trends, areas of concern, and opportunities, and make strategic recommendations on how to approach these, taking into account market dynamics.
  • To work closely with actuaries, claims professionals, and other departments to ensure portfolio strategy aligns with broader company objectives,
  • To work with intermediaries to negotiate terms, gather feedback and gauge market dynamics.
  • They will identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities within existing accounts to drive business growth through new and existing distribution channels.
  • They will provide valuable input in relation to portfolio strategy, product development and system enhancements.
  • They will support with the development of other Underwriters.
