A leading engineering firm in Malaysia is looking for a Project Engineer to support electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. Support execution of electrical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, including design review, procurement support, installation, testing, and commissioning.
Review project scope, specifications, drawings, and schedules to understand electrical engineering requirements and execution constraints.
Coordinate with design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and environmental, safety and health (ESH) teams to support smooth execution of electrical works.
Assist in preparation and implementation of project execution plans, method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and commissioning procedures.
Ensure electrical works are executed in compliance with contractual, technical, and statutory requirements under supervision.
Actively participate in site activities, inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover processes to ensure system readiness and compliance.
Provide technical support to senior engineers, site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors during project execution.
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, instrumentation, HSE, procurement, planning, and Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC).
Prepare, review, and submit electrical shop drawings, material submittals, calculations, and technical documentation for approval.
Assist in resolving technical design and site issues to minimize delays and rework.
Support knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the electrical engineering team.
Actively participate in internal technical reviews and lessons‑learned discussions.
Assist in cost control efforts by identifying opportunities for design optimization, material efficiency, and improved installation methods.
Identify potential technical risks and construction challenges and report mitigation proposals to senior engineers or project management.
Support change management activities, including preparation of technical clarifications, variation assessments, and impact evaluations.
Ensure electrical activities comply with approved quality plans, HSE plans, ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in inspections, quality checks, and audits for electrical installations and systems.
Ensure implementation of safe work practices, risk assessments, and method statements at site.
Support investigations and corrective actions related to non‑conformances, incidents, or near‑misses.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors on electrical engineering matters under supervision.
Attend technical, coordination, and site progress meetings as required.
Prepare technical reports, daily/weekly progress updates, and commissioning documentation for review.
Support senior engineers and the Project Manager in addressing technical queries, approvals, and handover documentation.
Track electrical engineering deliverables and milestones to support timely completion.
Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions where performance gaps are identified.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on site.
Provide technical input to proposals, tenders, and bids when required.
Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role
Proven track record of successfully managing electrical engineering projects, from inception to completion
Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and industry regulations
Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
Proficient in project management tools and software
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
