A Production Manager in a refinery is generally responsible for:

Production & Operations

Oversee day-to-day production processes to ensure target output, efficiency, quality, and uptime.

Plan, schedule, and optimize refinery operations.

Safety & Compliance

Enforce strict Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards, including regulatory compliance.

Lead and develop production teams, including supervisors, operators, and technical staff.

Analyze production metrics to identify improvement opportunities, reduce losses, and increase efficiency.

Coordination & Communication

Work with engineering, maintenance, quality control, supply chain, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Essential skills often required include:

✔ Technical Competence

Deep understanding of refinery processes (distillation, cracking, hydrotreating, etc.) and equipment.

Familiarity with digital tools, ERP systems, SCADA, and production planning software.
