Job Summary
The Production Costing Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate cost structures for server racks, cabinets, and related data center infrastructure products. This role ensures that material, labor, and overhead costs are properly captured and analysed to support competitive pricing, profitability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position works closely with engineering, production, procurement, and finance teams to drive cost transparency, process efficiency, and data-driven decision‑making across the manufacturing operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and review product cost models for server racks, enclosures, CAC, HAC, Caging and other related manufacturing products.
- Calculate standard costs for PRI, PDB and PDC, and perform variance analysis.
- Work with design and engineering teams to estimate costs for new product introduction and design changes.
- Analyze cost drivers such as sheet metal fabrication, welding, coating, assembly, and packaging.
- Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to validate raw material and component pricing (e.g., Sheet metal, cables, fasteners, etc).
- Track and report manufacturing efficiency, yield losses, and production waste that impact cost performance.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through process optimization, material utilization and design-for-manufacturability improvements.
- Ensure accurate and timely cost data entry in ERP system (SAP).
- Prepare detailed production cost reports, dashboards and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
- Any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Preferred Skills (Optional)
- Experience in lean manufacturing, cost optimization or continuous improvement projects.
- Familiarity with CAD Drawings and engineering change management.
- Understanding of design-for-cost and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or related QMS.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing or related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in costing or manufacturing within metal fabrication or related field.
- Strong knowledge of production processes such as CNC turret punching, laser cutting, bending, welding, powder coating and assembly.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP system (preferably SAP).
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and numerical reasoning abilities.
- Familiar with BIM, routings and time‑study analysis.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills across departments.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple cost projects simultaneously.
