Job Description

The Engineering Team at Cricut develops and delivers high quality products that delight our consumers. Come join us in the development of these products and gain the satisfaction of seeing people enjoy and love the things they can create with them. The primary responsibility of this position is to work with part suppliers and contract manufacturers on new product introductions (NPIs) and to resolve product and process issues on existing products. This requires strong engineering expertise, technical problem solving skills and design capabilities to improve or correct new or existing products.

Responsibilities

  • Execute NPI projects by partnering with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sourcing, and Operation teams to ensure seamless transition from design to stable mass production, aligned with timeline and quality objectives.
  • Provide support in designing 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for components involving mechanisms, sheet metal structures, plastic housings, and gearing systems.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), Design for Inspection (DFI), and Design to Cost (DTC) reviews to ensure designs are manufacturable, inspectable, and cost effective.
  • Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives by applying Design to Cost or Value Engineering principles throughout the product development cycle.
  • Review and approve tooling and processes for fabricated parts including First Article Inspection (FAI) and verification of part form, fit and function at each development phase to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions implementation on product or process issues using structured problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-Why, Fish Bone Diagram and etc.
  • Apply statistical tools, including process capability studies and Design of Experiment (DOE) to optimize product and process performance.
  • Perform functional and reliability testing for validation and verification phases with Quality.
  • Work closely with suppliers and contract manufacturers to qualify tooling, materials and jigs & fixtures.
  • Monitor customer feedback and field performance data to drive continuous improvement and future product enhancements.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision while keeping stakeholders and management informed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in bringing products from concept to high volume manufacturing.
  • Trained and experienced in the application of statistical based problem solving methods for product and process improvement.
  • Highly skilled in root cause analysis methods such as 8D, 5-Why’s, etc. Proficiency in ProE (Creo) is highly desired whereas Solidworks experience will also be considered. Skilled in FEA simulation would be an added advantage.
  • Strong Interest and aptitude in robotics, kinematics, dynamics, mechatronics and mechanism design.
  • Experienced in injection molded plastics part design, tooling best practices and parameter tuning.
  • Familiar with sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
  • Familiar with rapid prototype techniques and processes. Experience in using 3D printers would be an added advantage.
  • Familiar with GD&T techniques.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work independently.

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of experience developing and launching consumer products, electro-mechanical devices, medical devices, automotive components, or similar in a high volume manufacturing environment
