Job summary

A manufacturing firm located in Malaysia is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage purchasing and supplier negotiations. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in procurement, preferably within the fittings and accessories or manufacturing sectors. Responsibilities include issuing Purchase Orders, monitoring supplier performance, and evaluating new suppliers. Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred for effective communication with Chinese suppliers. Immediate availability is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Preferably experience in fittings & accessories, manufacturing, or interior design.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately calculate material needs and issue Purchase Orders with correct quantities and prices within set lead times upon receiving purchase requests.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal costs, delivery schedules, minimum order quantities, and payment terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring products meet required quality standards and are delivered on time.
  • Implement supplier improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction, quality enhancement, and delivery performance improvement.
  • Source and evaluate new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and resolve shortages or quality issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including production and warehouse departments, to ensure the timely procurement, quality, storage, and delivery of goods.
  • Any additional responsibilities/tasks as delegated by the Management as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the fittings & accessories, manufacturing, or interior design industries.
  • Strong negotiation skills and resourcefulness in sourcing new suppliers.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with suppliers, internal customers, and inventory planning.
  • Detail-oriented with a quick learning ability.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred, as the role involves frequent communication with suppliers from China.
  • Available to start immediately or within one month's notice.
