A global leader in manufacturing flexible printed circuits is seeking a Procurement Engineer in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. This role entails evaluating vendor performance, preparing proposals, analyzing costs, and overseeing the ordering process. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of procurement experience, a degree in a relevant field, and strong negotiation skills. 1. Evaluating vendor performance – conduct assessments to identify and qualify vendors based on quality, cost and reliability, ensuring proper documentation is filed in the selection of approved vendor.
2. Preparing proposals to potential vendors, requesting quotes by outlining the BOM requirements and working on alternatives if required.
3. Performing cost analysis to identify optimal procurement options aligned with budget and quality standards, leading negotiations with vendors to secure advantageous contract terms and conditions before preparing purchase orders for final approval.
4. Determining the cost, quality and availability of components, completing and maintaining purchase orders for direct materials, raw materials, components, supplies and equipment.
5. Keeping procurement activities compliant with internal purchasing policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
6. Working with internal teams to ensure purchased materials meet the necessary quality metrics.
7. Collaborating with other stakeholders to evaluate and monitor performance of direct material approved suppliers every quarter.
8. Responsible for acquiring materials and services needed for all programs.
9. Liaising with internal project teams and supply chain department to analyze technical requirements, evaluating products and suppliers according to key business criteria.
10. Working closely with the production planner to monitor production planning and develop and implement strategies for procuring, distributing and maintaining material stock levels, following up with suppliers as needed to confirm or change orders.
11. Overseeing the entire ordering process from requisition to final delivery, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
12. Serving as the point of contact between engineering departments and suppliers to clarify technical specifications or resolve issues.
13. Preparing reports and maintaining accurate inventory and procurement records.
14. Working with warehouse staff to ensure timely deliveries and identify discrepancies.
15. Analyzing industry and demand trends and supporting senior management with the development and implementation of sourcing strategies.
1. Possess a degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3–5 years in procurement or a closely related field.
3. Understanding of technical blueprints and technical data sheets.
4. Prior experience with vendor management and overall procurement experience.
5. Strong negotiation capabilities.
6. Demonstrated ability in contract negotiations and previous involvement in cost‑reduction initiatives.
7. Excellent communication skills with great attention to detail.
8. Committed to work and complete tasks within deadlines.
9. Teamwork and collaboration skills.
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
