Principal Solution Architect is part of the B2B domain – Aviation, CRM & Castrol team, where we deliver digital solutions to engage with our customers, create efficiencies and support new business.

What You Will Deliver

A technologist at heart, you are passionate in building outstanding products and services. You passionately believe that innovation and adapting to changing business needs can be met by assembling common business capabilities. You motivate and advise product teams across B2B to think about services as common reusable assets. You stay ahead of innovative technologies identifying new opportunities, architectures and standards in domain‑driven design, modularity that helps bp deliver great digital products.

You believe that delivering leading technology solutions, at scale and at pace, depends on deep understanding of application design patterns, and fostering effective frameworks for handling technology across the organization. You are a strategic problem solver, able to plan for the future but with a bias for short‑term action. You will operate in a dynamic and delivery focused environment, with the resources of one of the world’s most forward‑thinking digital teams. You are confident and comfortable working across cultures.

• Team: You directly influence how different products design, build digital products. You will not just lead, but you will "do".
• Architecture: You understand domain‑driven design and help build out capabilities that can be reused across Digital Customers and Markets. You develop common patterns and reference architectures for architecture of these services.
• Relationships: You will understand the needs of the different parts of our business, product teams, and our key technology ecosystems, building strong relationships both inside and outside of bp.
• Technology: You have a passion for understanding and learning. You will bring good hands‑on skills in architecting, designing, and building software, and an ability to rapidly decompose business capabilities to services.
• Evangelist: You will be the evangelist across Customer and Products, selling the different opportunities that reusability can drive.
• Safety and Compliance: Safety of our people and our customers is our highest priority. We will advocate and help ensure our architectures, designs and processes enhance a culture of operational safety and improve our digital security.
• Collaboration: Establishes team abilities, demonstrating leadership through delegation, motivation, and trust. Builds positive relationships, advises leaders on technology, and mentors within Digital delivery teams. Encourage engagement with technology as a driver of change. Understands long‑term solution needs and develop rapport with team members inside and outside BP.

What You Will Need to Be Successful (Experience and Qualifications)

• Bachelor's (or higher) degree or equivalent work experience.
• Exposure to adjacent domains such as platforms, storage, databases, etc.
• Powerful social skills including the ability to relate sophisticated topics in simple and accessible language.
• A confirmed background in architecture with real‑world experience of architecting. Deep‑seeded functional knowledge of key technology sets.
• Be part of a tight‑knit delivery team. You accomplish outstanding project outcomes in a respectful and supportive culture. A validated grasp of architecture development and design thinking in an agile environment. You adapt delivery techniques to drive outstanding project delivery.
• Capable in information architecture and data engineering / management processes, including data governance / modelling techniques and tools, processing methods and technologies. Capable in data analytics and data science architectures, including business intelligence, machine learning pipelines and modelling, and associated technologies.
