Job summary

A dynamic conglomerate in Malaysia is seeking a Data Centre Specialist responsible for executing maintenance and assisting in data centre design and construction. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in Electrical/Power design, relevant qualifications, and excellent communication skills. This on-site role involves monitoring construction activities, ensuring quality control, and working closely with design consultants and contractors. Fluent English is required, and knowledge of local procedures is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of working experience in Electrical/Power design on substation projects.
  • Good knowledge in Electrical HV/MV distribution Engineering.
  • Good command of written and spoken English required.

Responsibilities

About The Company

Our client is located in Asia, a dynamic, diversified conglomerate with global reach and established brands in the digital infrastructure, maritime and real estate sectors. They are looking for the Data Centre Specialist (DCS) which is responsible for the executing, and assisting of the maintenance breakdowns and breakdown follow ups.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Manager or Delivery Manager in data centre design and construction phases for site management, construction quality control and HSE.
  • Monitor construction activities closely on a regular basis and ensure the data centre facility is built to group's standard.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of design consultant’s work to ensure design documents are sufficiently developed with all necessary engineering calculations in place.
  • Responsible for communicating with design consultants and contractors/vendors to ensure all required deliverables are achieved.
  • Responsible for maintaining internal engineering standards with particular focus on Electrical distribution and protection system.
  • Support and manage project commissioning/troubleshooting and final handover activities.
  • Support of internal engineering design and development activities.
  • Establish engineering and operation procedures following Company's standard.
  • To travel from one site to another for support if required, as the position is site-based.
  • Reporting day-to-day basic tasks and alignment to the Line Manager.

Skillset And Qualifications Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical/Power or Building Services Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer preferred
  • Relevant Uptime/TIA certificates preferred
  • 6 years minimum of working experience in Electrical/Power design on substation 33kV/132kV/275kV and construction project delivery (data centre projects preferred).
  • Good knowledge in Electrical HV/MV distribution Engineering with a good understanding on data centre project and protection study
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) with experience in Mechanical HVAC software, such as IES.
  • Good command of written and spoken English is required, as that will be the main working language. Candidates fluent in Chinese and/or Bahasa Indonesia/Malay will have an advantage, as the role may require working with native Data Center employees based in Indonesia, Malaysia, or China.
  • Familiar with TNB/local authorities’ procedure, standard code and requirement.
