A manufacturing solutions provider in Penang is seeking a Material Planning Manager to develop and manage material planning processes. You will be responsible for creating production schedules and ensuring timely material availability while driving efficiency and collaboration across engineering and procurement teams. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree and has over 5 years of experience in material and production planning. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team and improve planning methodologies.
Develop and manage end-to-end material planning processes including demand forecasting, inventory management, and replenishment strategies for fabrication and assembly.
Create and maintain production schedules aligned with sales forecasts, capacity, and customer delivery requirements.
Drive all functional teams (engineering, quality, procurement, logistics, production) to meet the on time delivery performance to customer.
Collaborate with procurement to monitor supplier performance and lead times, ensuring timely material availability.
Analyze inventory levels and production plans to optimize stock, reduce waste, and avoid production interruptions.
Coordinate with manufacturing to balance production loads and manage capacity constraints.
Lead and develop material planners and production schedulers, providing guidance and performance feedback.
Utilize ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP) to execute planning activities and generate reports for management review and collaborate with MIS to improve planning efficiency.
Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements to increase efficiency and responsiveness.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and engineering teams by integrating project schedules into production planning.
Monitor key performance metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and production efficiency.
Other duties and assignments as instructed by superiors from time to time.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
Proven managing experience (typically 5+ years) in material and production planning, preferably in contract manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of planning methodologies (e.g., MRP, lean production, demand forecasting) and ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, SAP).
