Job summary

A key recruitment agency is seeking a professional responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process in Penang. The ideal candidate will source and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery, aligning procurement with production demands. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of purchasing experience, and proficiency in Malay, Mandarin, and English. This role offers a salary package of RM 5,000 to RM 7,500, along with various additional benefits.

Job description

You will be responsible for the end-to-end purchasing process, from supplier selection and negotiation to import/export coordination. This role plays a key part in ensuring product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery to support smooth production operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive cost.
  • Evaluate and qualify new suppliers; analyze purchasing data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure consistent support and collaboration.
  • Work closely with the production planning team to align material procurement with production demand while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Manage import and export processes, including logistics coordination and customs documentation.
  • Handle nonconforming materials and ensure timely return or replacement with vendors.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or any related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Purchasing.
  • Strong proficiency in negotiation skills and planning.
  • Work experience at a Japanese company.
  • Languages: Malay, Mandarin, English.
Additional Information
  • Salary Package: RM 5,000 - RM 7,500.
    • No additional allowance for executive level.
    • Assistant Manager may receive phone allowance and title allowance.
  • AL: 14 days for the first 2 years.
  • MC: 14 days for the first 2 years.
  • Medical claim (no cover for dental/optical).
  • Bonus: Subject to company performance (provided twice, Feb and Aug).
  • Working Hours: 8:30 ~ 17:30.
  • Holiday: Weekend/PH.
