A manufacturing company in Malaysia seeks a Safety & Health Officer to ensure compliance with OSHA and related standards. You will conduct risk assessments, workplace inspections, and accident investigations, while also maintaining SHE records. The ideal candidate has a diploma in Safety, Health & Environmental disciplines and at least 2 years of relevant experience. An OSH Coordinator certification is preferred. The role promotes safety and wellness initiatives and involves training and liaising with local authorities.
Ensure implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety & Health Management System in compliance with OSHA and industry standards.
Update and enforce SH policies to ensure compliance with OSHA and industry requirements
Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and HIRARC documentation
Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Develop emergency response plans and procedures related to safety and health requirements.
Ensure compliance with all legal and other related SH requirements.
Perform regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and verify compliance.
Perform inspections to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of SHE measures as per relevant Act and regulations.
Maintain records for health, safety, and environmental (SHE) information to meet or comply with government requirements.
Liaise with local authorities such as DOSH and BOMBA.
Coordinate with the SH Committee on all related matters.
Support to Human Resources in addressing employee welfare and health matters.
Plan, organize, and conduct induction training and SHE internal training and awareness campaigns/programs for all employees.
Promote workplace wellness & mental health initiatives.
Ensure vendors/contractors comply with TPML standards.
Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents.
Document findings, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
Assist in accident investigations and reporting promptly.
Maintain records for regulatory and internal reporting.
Ensure that all SHE-related documentation is current, organized, and easily accessible.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the management from time to time in the HR & GA Section.
Diploma in Safety, Health & Environmental field and or other relevant discipline.
Minimum 2 years relevant working experience in SHE role at manufacturing industry
OSH Coordinator certification (DOSH Certified/Registered OSH) is preferred.
Strong knowledge on local OSHA regulation and other related local laws and standards.
Good experience in conducting risk assessments, trainings, audits and incident investigations.
Proven ability to assess and improve existing systems and processes.
Able to work independently with a high degree of commitment in a manufacturing environment.
