A healthcare provider in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Medical Physicist responsible for the application of physics in medicine, particularly in radiotherapy. The role involves patient treatment planning, radiation safety, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Medical Physics or a related field and at least one year of experience in radiotherapy planning. Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required, along with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
A Medical Physicist is a healthcare professional specialized in the application of physics in medicine, particularly in the use of ionizing radiation. Working closely with clinical oncologists, radiation therapists, and other members of the radiotherapy team, the Medical Physicist ensures effective, safe, and scientifically accurate radiotherapy services. Responsibilities include patient treatment planning, radiation safety, quality assurance, and dose calculation.
Understands and carries out the application of ionizing radiation in medicine in line with Vision and mission, philosophy, Goals and objective that suit the scope of the Radiotherapy services and the hospital.
Collaborate with clinical oncologists in designing and validating radiotherapy treatment plans and procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that the treatment plan is accurate and scientifically valid.
Responsible for proper interpretation of the treatment plan as it relates to the dose distribution and calculation of treatment duration or monitor unit.
Calculate and verify the radiation dose for each patient prescribed radiotherapy treatment.
Provide radiation protection services and ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
Contribute to education and training in medical physics for continuous service improvement.
Establishes and develops effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives, to achieve optimal patient’s satisfaction.
Maintains the safety policy and ensures that all accidents/incidents are reported to the Head of Services and documented.
Check patient’s charges are charged accordingly and for completeness with the cashier.
Master’s degree in Medical Physics, Physics or a related field.
Minimum 1 year experience in computerized radiotherapy treatment planning and quality assurance.
Responsible, meticulous, and safety conscious.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated with a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Collaborative and supportive team player.
Capable of working under pressure with attention to detail in high-risks clinical environments.
