Job summary

A leading pathology lab in Malaysia seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to prepare histological specimens for examination and perform quality control on test results. Ideal candidates will have a Diploma/Degree in Medical Lab Technology or Biomedical Science, MAHPC certification, and 1-2 years of experience in Anatomical Pathology. The position requires working on rotational shifts and offers an opportunity to contribute to critical laboratory functions.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience as Medical Lab Scientist in Anatomical Pathology.
  • Experience in Histology is advantageous.
  • Able to work on rotational shifts.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • Proficient preparation ofhistological specimens for light microscopicalexamination by pathologists.
  • Preparation of specimens for gross examination.
  • Setup and operation of tissue processors.
  • Embedding paraffin-processedtissuesamples.
  • Sectioning, staining, and cover slipping paraffin-processed tissue samplesusing documented methods, as directed per Procedure Manuals.
  • Performing a range ofhistochemical stains.
  • Performquality controlon test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.
  • Performcalibration and troubleshootingon testing systems and instruments to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
  • Microscopic examination of PAP smears, Non-gynae and FNA specimen.
  • Screen and report all normalcervical PAP smear.
  • Screen allnon-gynae slides(body fluids and FNA) and submit to pathologist for reporting.
  • Prepare and process samples, such as Pap smear (cervical smear) or non-gynae specimens such as body fluids and fine needle aspirations (FNAs) when cytology technical assistant is absent.
  • Perform laboratory tests and report results as directed by the Core Lab Manager and pathologist.
Qualifications
  • MAHPC Certified.
  • Diploma/Degree in Medical Lab Technology or Biomedical Science.
  • Min. 1 – 2 years as Medical Lab Scientist in Anatomical Pathology (experience in Histology will be advantageous).
  • Able to work on rotational shift.
