A leading data centre provider in Johor is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to oversee maintenance tasks and ensure compliance with service level agreements. This role demands a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering along with a minimum of 8 years' experience in data centre environments. Responsibilities will include monitoring maintenance vendors, providing technical support, and training onsite teams. The position requires proficiency in English and familiarity with critical systems such as HVAC and UPS. Flexibility for after-hours support is necessary.
1. Overall Lead for maintenance task assigned and monitor performance of assigned responsibilities. Perform repair and/or troubleshoot ensuring that work performed in critical environment is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience to customer.
2. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, and inspections of assigned critical environment systems, which may include the following Electrical systems on mechanical (including HVAC, computer room air conditioners, chillers, and plumbing) electrical (including UPS, DC battery systems, PDU, generators, transfer switches, and switchgear).
3. Responsible for supervising prior to sign-off the maintained equipment/system done by maintenance vendor or OEM vendor. Ensure maintenance vendor follows closely to the maintenance work method statement without deviation and sign off for each work step. Should abnormality occur, call for work halt and elevate to monitoring centre and seek Maintenance Manager work clearance prior proceed to perform troubleshoot and/or investigation.
4. Process Change Control Application Process work efforts (including 3rd party contractors) for the safe and compliant operation, maintenance (corrective and preventive), and modification of critical equipment. Ensuring standard operating procedures and maintenance work instructions are up to standard.
5. Perform the role of technical support onsite, guiding team members on first level fault analysis with vendor discussions. Provide directions and guidance for team members on new facilities testing and commissioning, working closely with the project team.
6. Provide on-the-job training and technical support to engineers and technicians.
7. Monitor critical spare parts inventory levels onsite to ensure continuous operation without impact. Provides recommendations to Manager for the quantity and types of critical parts required to support the facilities operation.
8. Deliver all maintenance tasks for customer’s service level agreement and always comply to the SLA covers, such as incidents to escalate to customer within 15 minutes upon reporting to monitoring centre, written incident reports to issue within 24 hours, etc.
