About the Role
A Mechanical Engineer is responsible to oversee mechanical operations, equipment maintenance, production support, and technical problem-solving.
Job Description
- Supervise preventive and predictive maintenance machine
- Diagnose mechanical issue and implement corrective action
- Ensure minimum downtime by quickly addressing breakdowns
- Coordinate with production teams to meet daily production targets
- Optimize machine settings for efficiency and product quality
- Assist in installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery
- Identify areas for reducing downtime, energy use, and waste
- Suggest and implement improvements in mechanical processes
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives like Kaizen, 5S, TPM
- Maintain maintenance logs, spare parts inventory, and technical documentation
- Prepare reports on performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement of mechanical spares
- Manage inventory levels of critical mechanical parts
- Supervise technicians and maintenance staff
- Plan manpower for maintenance activities and shutdowns
- Prepare training material and provide training on mechanical systems and troubleshooting
- Monitor maintenance costs and reduce unnecessary expenses
- Improve machine efficiency to reduce operational costs
Qualification & Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Proven working experience in Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, mechanisms, and machine elements
- Analytical thinking for troubleshooting machine failures
- Ability to identify process bottlenecks and mechanical inefficiencies
- Logical decision-making under pressure (especially during breakdowns)
- Ability to perform root cause analysis (RCA) using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone, etc
- Knowledge of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001), if applicable.
- Communication skills (to coordinate with production, quality, and vendors)
- Team leadership (supervising technicians & maintenance team)
- Time management (handling multiple maintenance tasks efficiently)
