Overview

Mechanical & Electrical Engineer (Consultancy). We are hiring a mechanical engineer or electrical engineer to support the engineering, coordination, and delivery of projects across engineering consultancy and EPCM environments. The role involves exposure to design development, technical documentation, multidisciplinary coordination, and construction support, depending on project type and phase.

Responsibilities
  • Support concept, basic, and detailed engineering design for M&E systems
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and schedules
  • Coordinate with architectural, civil, structural, process, and other engineering disciplines
  • Participate in design reviews, hazid / technical workshops, and coordination meetings
  • Assist with authority submissions and regulatory compliance
  • Review contractor or vendor shop drawings, technical data, and material submittals
  • Conduct site inspections, technical clarifications, and construction support
  • Support testing, commissioning, and handover documentation
Mechanical engineer scope
  • HVAC systems (air-cooled / water-cooled, chilled water, ventilation)
  • Plumbing, sanitary, drainage, and fire protection systems
  • Equipment selection, heat load calculations, and system sizing
  • Interface coordination with architectural layouts and process requirements
Electrical engineer scope
  • LV power distribution and electrical infrastructure
  • Lighting, emergency lighting, and lighting controls
  • ELV systems (fire alarm, CCTV, access control, data, PA)
  • Electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and coordination with utilities
EPCM exposure (advantageous)
  • Review vendor packages and interface with suppliers
  • Support procurement technical evaluations and clarifications
  • Participate in constructability reviews and value engineering
  • Interface with site teams, commissioning teams, and client representatives
About the requirement
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering
  • Experience: 2-7 years relevant experience; background in engineering consultancy, EPCM, or design & build projects; exposure to industrial, infrastructure, data centre, oil & gas, energy, or complex buildings is an advantage
Technical skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit MEP is an advantage)
  • Familiar with Malaysian authority requirements (Bomba, ST, TNB, local councils)
  • Knowledge of relevant international standards (ASHRAE, BS, IEC, NFPA)
  • Able to read and coordinate IFC drawings and technical documents
Soft skills
  • Strong coordination and communication skills
  • Comfortable working across office design and site-based environments
  • Able to manage multiple interfaces and priorities
Professional registration (preferred)
  • Registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
  • Graduate engineer / progress toward PE/PEPC is an advantage
