Manufacturing Technician (Optics)

Purpose

• Tooling technician will possess deep expertise in buffing, milling, and scraping processes, along with proven hands‑on experience in the maintenance and servicing of heavy tools, molds, and jigs, maintaining ovens and doing preventive maintenance for chambers and doing temperature profiling.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision buffing, milling, and scraping to ensure high‑quality tool finishes.
• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of heavy tools, molds, and jigs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and restore tools to optimal performance.
• Support production teams with quick and effective solutions.
• Maintain detailed records of tool performance, repairs, and improvements.
• Always ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Manage curing oven and perform temperature profiling.
• Chemical management and usage.
• Data collection and Excel knowledge to come up with charts after every test done post coating.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a focus on operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of production activities, quality metrics, and team performance reporting findings to management as required.
• Assist in compiling documentation for engineering studies and quality assessments.

Basic Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong technical background in tooling with at least 5 years of hands‑on experience.
• High‑level skills in buffing, milling, scraping, and tool fitting.
• Proven ability in heavy tool, mold, and jig maintenance.
• Strong technical competence in assembly, testing, and quality control processes within a manufacturing setting.
• Familiarity with manufacturing software and systems, such as SAP or other ERP solutions.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as lead junior technicians.
• Data collection and Excel usage.
