Job description
Manager, Operational Advisory and Shariah Risk

Assist the Head, Operational, Technology & Cyber Risk and Resilience Management to:

  • Implement and execute the operational risk management framework, policies and procedures, methodologies, and processes including Shariah Risk Management.
  • Oversee the entire incident management process, from reporting to resolution, and guide teams in identifying and fixing issues. Analyze incident data to monitor trends and recommend preventive actions.
  • Implement the fraud risk management framework while advising on fraud risk exposures, controls, and strategies.
  • Manage and monitor the network of Risk Champions and Assistant Risk Champions, providing guidance, training, and support to enhance its effectiveness. Ensure consistent application of risk management practices across departments through this network.
  • Conduct independent assessments of internal controls related to products, projects, activities, processes, system and Shariah Risk aspects that may influence key business objectives and strategies.
  • Prepare periodic reports and ensure timeliness on Operational Risk and Shariah Risk exposures for Management and Board Level Committees and any relevant committees.
  • Conduct trainings, workshops and information sessions to foster an operational risk management culture within the Corporation.

Job Requirement:

Qualification: Minimum a degree in Risk Management / Finance / Accountancy / Banking / Economics / Business Studies / Administration / Management / Islamic Banking or equivalent. Any relevant Professional Certification will be an added advantage.

Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the related fields is required for this position.

Knowledge: BASEL Accord, BNM Regulations on Risk Management, ORM System, Shariah Principles, Shariah Governance Framework, Shariah Risk, Islamic banking

  • Strong analytical capability, and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good report writing skills. Must be able to summarize and communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Has the drive and perseverance to inculcate a sound risk management culture
  • Matured, independent and possess high degree of ethics and integrity.
  • A collaborative team player with an energetic and adaptable working style, able to work effectively across teams within the Risk Management Department.
