POSITION OVERVIEW: This role is part of Alcon's Finance, Accounting, & Audit function, a team that advances Alcon's financial strategy and ensures fiscal responsibility as we transform the eye care industry. As a Manager II, Accounting & Reporting you will be reporting to Senior Manager at the AGS Kuala Lumpur center. The role applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Responsible for accounting requirements for assigned areas to be completed timely and accurately. This role will also provide oversight to these activities, ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are met as well as provides highly effective and efficient end-to-end processes to Business Function. Schedule may vary and require shift work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the team and provide hands-on support for the teams to provide quality services to the business function to support effective decision-making.
  • Set clear goals and schedule regular performance reviews, regular 1:1 discussion
  • Coordinate a robust operation rhythm for the month-end reporting
  • Interact proactively with functional areas to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting is accomplished within prescribed deadlines and in accordance with IFRS / Alcon Accounting Manual
  • Prepare/review accurate and robust monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations, including analyses for balance sheet reviews
  • Prepare/review accurate journal entries in a timely manner
  • Ongoing process improvements made through the month to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and address business / operational changes
  • Collaborate proactively with key stakeholders, including Finance colleagues, internal and external accounting authorities/auditors, and Regional/Global Financial Reporting and Accounting. Communication with these stakeholders is appropriate and timely when questions regarding accounting/reporting matters arise.
  • Ensure all processes comply with Alcon standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Alcon Accounting Manual, Alcon Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
  • Understand all impacts to the general ledger for assigned areas due to other intra- and inter-departmental transactions including activities from other functional departments.
What You’ll Bring to Alcon
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance required. Masters or Advanced degree in Accounting and/or Finance preferred
  • About 4-5 years of accounting experience, plus min. 1-2 years of experience as Team Lead in GL
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS (GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficient ERP knowledge (SAP)
  • Fluent English skills written and spoken
  • Experience working on process improvement projects and financial process engineering
  • Experience working within shared services teams preferred
