Job summary

A leading financial institution in Malaysia is looking for a candidate to develop and implement climate risk tools to manage financial risks related to climate change. The role involves ensuring compliance with various climate-related policies and preparing analysis reports for senior management and regulators. A degree in Finance or a related field is required, along with quantitative skills in analytics and data science. Experience in risk modeling and familiarity with climate scenarios will be advantageous.

Job description
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement climate risk tools and dashboards to assess and manage climate-related financial risks
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external climate-related governance and policy requirements, including Climate Risk Policy, BNM’s Climate Risk Scenario and Policy Document, TCFD, and other global/regional frameworks
  • Preparation of climate risk analysis, reports and presentations for senior management, regulators, and other stakeholders
Job Requirements:
  • A degree in Finance, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Statistics or a related field
  • Experienced in corporate setting (preferably financial institution) to manage business needs of stakeholders
  • Possess quantitative skills i.e. analytics, data science
  • ESG/climate related certifications would be preferred (not mandatory)
  • Climate scenario development and scenario expansion modeling experience or knowledge of risk modeling within a financial services setting Knowledge and experience with climate scenarios, such as NGFS, IEA, IPCC and other scenarios. This includes knowledge and understanding of the underlying integrated assessment models (IAMs) Familiarity the increasing regulatory expectations facing banks related to climate risk
