BowerGroupAsia (BGA) is the premier government affairs, public policy and strategic communications advisory firm supporting the world’s leading multinational companies in the Indo‑Pacific. With offices in Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Americas, BGA staff provide bespoke services to clients in over 30 markets across the region. We seek a talented, highly motivated analyst to be a part of our Malaysia team based in Kuala Lumpur.

Position Responsibilities

Support a portfolio of clients with a focus on the Malaysia market:

  • Research and monitor business and investment sector issues, including government policies, regulatory developments, industry developments, consumer trends and issues, and business and investment opportunities on behalf of BGA and clients.
  • Analyze and interpret the corporate, business, policy and political implications of specific government regulations, policies and laws at the national and provincial levels.
  • Provide well‑written, succinct and actionable reports to clients and to BGA leaders.
  • Map, engage, establish and maintain professional relationships with private‑sector stakeholders, civil society, members of the media and other influencers.
  • Provide information and analysis on stakeholders relevant to BGA clients.
  • Offer guidance and assistance in developing and implementing business, government relations, media, public affairs and other strategies.
  • Represent BGA at meetings and provide other support as requested by BGA leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with BGA teams based in Asia, Africa, the Pacific and North America, on a range of projects and provide further support internally and externally to advance BGA objectives.
Job Requirements

We seek a collegial, highly motivated self‑starter, who intrinsically understands and values the importance of people and relationships to business success and growth. The ideal candidate should anticipate client needs and understand how to effectively investigate, analyze and convey critical insights and information on Malaysia’s political economy and business policy environment to corporate executives. Qualifications include:

  • Business‑level English, native‑level Bahasa Malaysia and excellent written and oral communications skills in both languages.
  • Excellent research and analysis skills and knowledge of the public and private sectors. Knowledge of additional sectors, including information and communications technology, finance, natural resources, manufacturing, telecommunications, health care, pharmaceutical and others is a plus.
  • A keen understanding of Malaysia’s political‑economic environment and the ability to navigate it on behalf of clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and an ability to learn and adopt new technologies is required. Proficiency in Salesforce is a plus.
  • University degree and 1-3 years relevant professional experience are required.
