Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer (Machining) is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of machining equipment. This role supports preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshoots machine breakdowns, and works closely with production teams to minimise downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machining equipment (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis), including lathes, milling, and grinding machines
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimise machine downtime
  • Support machine setup, alignment, calibration, and accuracy checks
CNC & Machining Systems Support
  • Maintain critical machine components such as spindles, servo motors, ball screws, tool changers, and coolant systems
  • Assist in machine installation, commissioning, relocation, and upgrade activities
  • Work with OEMs and vendors for major repairs and technical support
Breakdown Analysis & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring machine failures and implement corrective actions
  • Support TPM, Lean, and Kaizen initiatives to improve machine reliability
  • Monitor and improve MTTR / MTBF performance
Spare Parts & Documentation
  • Manage spare parts planning and inventory for machining equipment
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation in CMMS
  • Recommend critical spare parts and cost-effective maintenance strategies
Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with EHS, ISO, and company safety standards
  • Perform risk assessments including LOTO and machine safety checks
  • Support internal and external audits related to equipment maintenance
Job Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronic / Industrial Engineering
  • Minimum 3–5 years in equipment or plant maintenance, preferably in manufacturing or machining environment
  • Experience supporting CNC Machining equipment is mandatory
  • Strong troubleshooting in mechanical, electrical & automation systems
  • Familiar with CNC machine troubleshooting (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits & controls
  • Understanding of pumps, valves, rectifiers & ventilation systems
  • Basic welding, fabrication, and mechanical fitting
  • Problem-solving, planning, communication, leadership, and teamwork
