A facility management company in Johor Bahru seeks a Maintenance Assistant to support repairs and maintenance of dormitory units and facilities. Responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting, performing safety checks, and maintaining equipment. The ideal candidate should have a secondary school certificate, knowledge of plumbing and electrical basics, and be proficient in Malay. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team are essential for this role.
Assist Maintenance Supervisor/Accommodation Executive in troubleshoot, repairs and improvements of dormitory units and facilities. Examples are installing of electrical outlets, switches, repairing shorts in wiring, repairing of fans and water leaks.
Regular walk-around in the dormitory to ensure that all the dormitory’s amenities e.g. fans, washing machines, water pipes, fire-fighting equipment, etc. are in a serviceable condition.
Assist in fire safety drills and familiarise workers with fire-fighting equipment, fire exits and assembly points.
Perform defect rectification reported by tenant and submit report to Maintenance Supervisor or Accommodation Executive.
Carry out preventive maintenance schedule as planned by the Maintenance Supervisor/Accommodations Executive.
Maintaining a clean, organized and safety of maintenance store and facilities.
Responsible for maintenance equipment and tools.
Assist in monitoring the maintenance inventories.
Performs any other maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor/Accommodations Executive.
Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
Attend safety and health training organised by the company.
Ability to manage time effectively and complete tasks within the given timeframe.
Basic knowledge in using maintenance software or mobile applications to report and track maintenance work.
Ability to quickly identify problems and find effective solutions.
Min. Secondary School / SPM / Certificate
Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical and painting
Able to write and converse in Malay
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and as a team
1-2 years hands‑on general maintenance experience (i.e., plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.) is preferred with proficiency in at least one major area.
