Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring effective maintenance, preventive programs, team supervision, safety compliance, emergency response, energy efficiency, and reliable operation of all hotel facilities and M&E systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Engineering Department, ensuring proper maintenance and repair of buildings, fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Manage preventive maintenance programs and follow up work orders to ensure reliable hotel operations.
- Ensure preventive maintenance for guest rooms, public areas, and plant equipment.
- Monitor and control all Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems during shifts.
- Train, coach, and support team members, including orientation for new hires.
- Plan duty rosters and monitor shift attendance, delegate work for proper implementation and control.
- Respond promptly to emergencies such as fire alarms and lift entrapments, ensure fire protection systems and emergency procedures are effective.
- Drive energy conservation initiatives and support environmental sustainability programs.
- Ensure service standards, safety compliance, and hazard identification are consistently maintained.
- Ensure compliance with audits, safety standards, and monthly reporting requirements.
- Coordinate vendors, manage engineering stores, and conduct regular inspections.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the engineering field, specifically within the hospitality industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address engineering challenges.
- Familiarity with industry‑specific standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Due to work permit restrictions, only citizens and Permanent Residents of Malaysia will be considered.
