Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Malaysia is looking for an experienced M&E Resident Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in M&E work and construction, along with a relevant qualification and registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Key responsibilities include overseeing construction management functions, ensuring quality control, and maintaining communication with clients and contractors. The position requires strong independence and the ability to work under pressure. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with half day on Saturday.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E work and M&E construction.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully.
  • Capable of working under tight schedules and long hours.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for carrying out Consultant functions in Construction Management.
  • Ensure implementation of Inspection and Test Plans, Quality Management System.
  • Assist Contractor in interfacing with Authorities.
  • Monitor works for conformance to approved designs and specifications.
  • Conduct site inspections and issue Non-Conformance Reports.
  • Liaise with clients, representatives, and contractors on site matters.

Job description

M&E Resident Engineer with minimum 5 years experiences.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsible for carrying out the Consultant functions in Construction Management.
  • Ensure that the Contractor implements the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), Testing and Commissioning Plan, Quality Management System, and Health and Safety Management.
  • Assist the Contractor in interfacing with the Authorities.
  • Ensure that all site records (inspection forms, test reports, audit reports, weekly activity reports, weather data, Contractor’s manpower and equipment at site, etc.) are properly documented, filed, and stored.
  • Monitor all works carried out by the Contractor for conformance to the approved design, specifications, shop drawings, and method statements.
  • Conduct site inspections for the project and issue instructions or Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to the Contractor for immediate action on any deficiencies.
  • Monitor the closure of NCRs.
  • Implement the Consultant’s Quality Management System with respect to document management and conduct audits on the Contractor.
  • Maintain a proper site diary recording all activities carried out each day.
  • Track the progress of work at the Site and, where necessary, request the Contractor to submit a mitigation plan to catch up with the schedule and prevent further delays.
  • Attend all technical site meetings with the Client, Consultant, and Contractor.
  • Liaise and coordinate with the client, client representatives, site personnel, and contractors on all site matters.
  • Attend meetings with authorities, client, contractor, and suppliers related to the project.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or an equivalent field.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as an Engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E work and M&E construction.
  • Independent and resourceful.
  • Capable of working under tight schedules and long hours.
