The Malaysian Bar is seeking to fill a vacancy for the position of Legal Officer in our Law, Policy and Special Projects Department. The successful candidate will play a role in supporting the Malaysian Bar’s statutory functions, responsibilities, and operations.
The Malaysian Bar is a statutory body established under the Legal Profession Act 1976. It represents and regulates the legal profession and is mandated to uphold the cause of justice. The statutory objects of the Malaysian Bar translate into a long and formidable to-do list, requiring the support of outstanding personnel to accomplish its goals.
Conducting research, analysis, as well as providing advice and recommendations on issues of public importance, the administration of justice, the legal profession and other matters within the remit of the Malaysian Bar, including its statutory functions and operations.
Communicating the Malaysian Bar’s positions through various mediums, including position papers, statements, and other publications.
Liaising with stakeholders and external parties on matters within the remit of the Malaysian Bar, including the Government, professional bodies, and civil society organisations.
Possess an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in law from a recognised university.
Possess at least five years of post‑qualification experience as a legal practitioner or in a related field.
Experience working in a regulatory environment or a civil society organisation is an advantage.

Possess superior ability in legal research and drafting/writing.
