Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Provide timely and practical legal advice to internal stakeholders.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents across various business areas including insurance, property, finance, and employment.
- Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support corporate exercises and regulatory submissions.
- Liaise with external counsel and monitor performance.
- Assist in developing legal policies, procedures, and templates.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Head of Legal on all matters related to the Legal Division as assigned from time to time.
- Perform other duties as delegated by the Head of Legal.
Managerial
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
Organizational
- Effective liaison with all business units across the organization on legal matters and provides necessary inputs where required.
- Adept at using technology to enhance legal and compliance functions.
Jobholder Requirements
Education/Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) and related experience.
- Qualified advocate & solicitor in Malaysia.
Experience/Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of legal experience, preferably in financial services or insurance.
- Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
- Analytical, proactive, and able to work independently and in teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with legal tech tools.
- Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Drives change through strategic and innovative thinking.
The Legal Manager provides legal support across business units, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A team player to align and work together with other managers in the legal department.
