Job summary

A leading food and beverage company in Malaysia is seeking a Legal Executive to manage legal, regulatory, and compliance matters for restaurant operations. Job description

The Legal Executive supports the F&B business by managing legal, regulatory, and compliance matters related to restaurant operations, franchising, tenancy, and licensing. The role ensures all outlets operate in compliance with applicable laws while minimizing legal and operational risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and manage commercial contracts including tenancy agreements, franchise agreements, supplier contracts, and NDAs
  • Handle licensing and permits for F&B outlets (business license, food handling, halal, local authority approvals)
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, labor, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with government authorities, councils, and external legal advisors
  • Manage legal disputes, claims, and litigation related to outlets, employees, or suppliers
  • Advise management on legal risks and compliance issues
  • Support outlet expansion, renewals, and closures from a legal perspective
  • Maintain proper legal documentation, contract tracking, and records
  • Assist with trademark, brand protection, and intellectual property matters
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent
  • 1–4 years of legal experience, preferably in F&B, retail, or hospitality
  • Knowledge of tenancy, franchise, employment, and commercial law
