Responsibilities
- Legal Drafting & Documentation:
- Prepare and draft basic legal documents such as resolutions, letters, and standard agreements under supervision.
- Review standard contracts and forms to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Filing & Deadline Management:
- Maintain a calendar of regulatory deadlines (e.g. corporate filings, statutory deadlines, etc).
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of required filings to relevant authorities.
- Keep records organised and up-to-date for easy retrieval.
- Bank Forms & Regulatory Documentation:
- Complete banking forms and KYC documentation for internal review and submission.
- Track and organize submitted forms and maintain clear records.
- Coordination & Follow-Ups:
- Communicate with internal teams and external counterparties, as required for document execution, signature collection, and information gathering.
- Follow up on pending matters and provide regular status updates to the supervisor.
- Internal Support & Updates:
- Provide administrative support, managing document versions, tracking outstanding tasks, and when requested, organising meetings.
- Prepare simple summaries or update notes for internal stakeholders on legal matters being handled.
- Confidentiality and Security:
- Maintain strict confidentiality across all aspects of the business, ensuring that sensitive information is handled with integrity and discretion.
- Legal Technology & Document Management Systems:
- Support the implementation and upkeep of digital document management systems.
- Help ensure proper naming, storage, and retrieval of legal documents using internal systems.
- Process Improvement & SOP Maintenance:
- Identify minor inefficiencies in recurring legal or documentation processes and suggest improvements.
- Assist in maintaining and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for legal tasks and workflows.
- Knowledge & Precedent Library Support:
- Assist in maintaining an internal database of legal precedents, standard templates, and regulatory reference material.
- Help catalogue and archive useful research or legal opinions for future reference.
- Special Projects and Research:
- Undertake special projects, which may include conducting legal research, preparing briefs and reports on various topics as needed to support business needs.
- Internal Awareness & Compliance Training Support:
- Provide support in organizing internal compliance awareness initiatives (e.g., compiling materials, sending reminders).
- Assist in preparing basic slide decks or notes for internal legal or compliance presentations, as required.
- Ad-Hoc & Cross-Functional Support:
- Perform other duties or administrative tasks as assigned to meet evolving business requirements.
- Provide support to the Finance team on an as-needed basis for administrative and documentation tasks.
Requirements
- LLB graduate from a common law jurisdiction (CLP/Bar qualification is an advantage).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant corporate law experience (including candidates who have completed pupillage).
- Open to working in JB or KL.
- Strong analytical skills with sound judgment and the ability to assess complex legal and business situations.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).
Additional Information
- Candidates will undergo 2 rounds of interviews with some pre-employment assessment tests as part of the recruitment procedure.
- Kindly note that all new hires will be offered yearly renewable employment contract.
