Job description

Position Purpose

A Level B academic is expected to make a significant contribution to all activities of the organisational unit or interdisciplinary area and play a significant role within their profession or discipline. The academic will develop, and execute, strategic plans and directions in the development, teaching and administration of undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive education programs in the area of Accounting, Environmental, Sustainability and Governance Reporting and Innovation within the School.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum development, innovation, enhancement and quality assurance in the undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.
• Develop and deliver innovative and excellent teaching, learning and assessment experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Conduct high quality research, maintaining an active record of publication and building a profile of grants and PhD student supervision.
• Support the development and implementation of a research strategy for School of Business, Department of Accounting consistent with the research priorities of Monash University.
• Support the management of education, research and/or administration in the School through participation in committees.
• Participate in collaborations with accounting professional bodies to drive research impact and educational excellence.

Key Selection Criteria

• A doctoral qualification (PhD) or equivalent qualification.
• A strong record of successful and innovative curriculum development.
• An outstanding record of teaching which demonstrates a commitment to educational innovation.
• An excellent research record, demonstrated by world class publications, grants and PhD supervision.
• A strong record in research leadership including generating research income, leading major research projects and, where relevant, building research teams.
• Experience in working with partners in universities, government and/or civil society.
• Ability to promote the discipline internally within the university as well as externally, both nationally and internationally.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in collaboration and leadership.
• Research agenda must show high translational impact and must align with the Department’s research focus areas of Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Impact of innovations in Accounting or Auditing.
• Able to teach in Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Auditing.
