Lead, Finance

The Lead, Finance reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of financial operations for the Business Unit. This role leads monthly financial closing, budgeting, taxation, audit compliance, treasury, and financial systems management, while ensuring strong financial governance and accurate reporting.

The role supports commercial and operational decision‑making in a fast‑paced manpower services environment, including local and overseas billing and intercompany transactions. It manages day‑to‑day accounting activities, oversees payables and receivables, and works closely with other Finance teams—particularly Intercompany Reporting—to ensure timely book close, transaction accuracy, and compliance with Group reporting requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead monthly closing of financial statements in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Prepare management reports, P&L analysis, balance sheet schedules, and operational dashboards.
  • Oversee intercompany adjustments, accruals, and manpower contract revenue recognition.
  • Drive annual budget preparation, long‑range financial projections, and rolling forecasts.
  • Provide variance analysis and cost optimization recommendations to management.
  • Manage SST, withholding tax, and corporate tax computations and submissions.
  • Coordinate year‑end statutory audit, liaising with external auditors, tax agents, and company secretary.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee AP & AR functions, including billing cycles, invoice verification, payment scheduling, payment terms, credit control, and vendor management & reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with HR team to validate training budget utilisation and ensure timely settlement to vendors.
  • Lead treasury operations including cash‑flow planning, bank reconciliation, and guarantee facilities.
  • Coordinate billing and PO processing, ensuring accuracy in invoicing and collection cycles.
  • Develop and enforce finance SOPs, internal controls, approval matrices, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review and process payments to training vendors, ensuring proper documentation from HR department.
  • Continuously improve workflow efficiency through automation and system enhancements.
  • Act as system owner for SAP or equivalent ERP system, including chart of accounts, master data, and reporting configuration.
  • Lead financial reporting system upgrades and integration with operational systems (HRMS, procurement, etc.).
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or MICPA are highly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience with hands‑on finance responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑moving environment with a positive and proactive attitude.
  • Competence in monthly financial closing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Tax compliance (SST, withholding tax, corporate tax, HRD levy if applicable).
  • AP & AR processes, including vendor payments and billing cycles.
  • Treasury and cash‑flow management.
  • Audit coordination (internal & external).
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated, strong analytical and financial analysis capabilities, with high attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff and in a team across departments.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes is a plus.
