Job description
Overview

Design, implement and manage diverse field-based exploration programs for gold mineralization.

Lead exploration programme to convert Buffalo Reef model from inferred to indicated, and also infill drilling for ore model extension to prolong the mine life.

Overseeing and manage exploration drilling programme for more than 6,000 metres following N43-101 standard.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare budgets and allocate resources (human, financial, and technical) for exploration activities.
  • Lead the analysis of drill results and collaborate with mine geologists to estimate mineral resources and reserves.
  • Field supervision of technicians in core and chip sampling, channel sampling, soil sampling, and trenching by implementing company standard operating procedures.
  • Supervising drilling activities such as rig setup, drill pad inspection and monitoring its preparation, drilling progress and recovery, quick logging, and others.
  • Oversee the training and development of exploration personnel to enhance skills and ensure safety and compliance with standards.
  • Ensure that the employees follow all safety, health, and environmental procedures through continuous awareness raising and auditing.
  • Monitor the conduct and ethics of exploration personnel in carrying out their work and report to management for pertinent actions.

3. Fieldwork & Drilling Supervision:

  • Oversee diamond drilling and Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Perform geological mapping, core logging, and sample collection during drilling campaigns.
  • Monitor site activities to ensure accurate geological data is being collected and maintained.

4. Data Management & Reporting:

  • Encode collected data into the company’s standard documents or designated files.
  • Compile concise and accurate geological data for exploration use, including updating the daily production reports (e.g., daily drilling report, sample production report, etc.) and distributing the information to the pertinent staff and management.
  • Log drill cores and samples, ensuring that all geological and geotechnical data is accurately documented and interpreted.
  • Assist in the interpretation of geological data to develop targets for further exploration drilling
  • Perform geological modeling and preliminary resource estimation by using industry software.
Key Accountabilities
  1. Ensure that the approved exploration program is delivered on time.
  2. Ensure that work is carried out safely at the core yard, on drill pads, and in the field.
  3. Collect and encode geological data into the company’s standard documents or designated files.
  4. Periodic reports are submitted to Senior management within the prescribed time frame for assessment and evaluation, e.g., Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  5. The frequency and impact of Health, Safety, and Environment incidents is minimized.
  6. Ensure all field operations adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols and regulations.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Geology or related earth science with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mining and mineral exploration.
  • Registered member of the Malaysian Board of Geologists.
  • Solid experience of exploration and mining-related software i.e. QGis, Maplnfo, Surpac, Micromine, Datamine, etc
  • Geological and resource modelling experience is considered a great advantage.
