Job summary

A manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Junior Buyer to support daily purchasing activities in Seberang Perai, Penang. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing purchase orders, managing supplier communications, and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards. Preferred qualifications include 2-3 years of experience in a purchasing role and a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management. Proficiency in Mandarin and strong analytical skills are also required.

Qualifications

Job description

ASTRODYNE TDI SDN. BHD. is seeking a Buyer (Junior) to join our team in Perai, Penang. This role supports daily purchasing and replenishment activities to ensure timely material supply for operations. The Buyer (Junior) will coordinate closely with the Lead Buyer, internal stakeholders, and suppliers to process purchase orders, follow up on deliveries, manage order confirmations, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with QMS and EMS requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining all documents relating to supply chain process in accordance with the company’s quality requirements.
  • Manage daily processing of replenishment order (IDM, chemical, label, packaging & etc) to ensure timely delivery, including releasing order to suppliers (based on MRP), updating & follow up for arrival date.
  • Respond to inhouse stakeholder and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
  • Processing order confirmations from suppliers quickly and effectively, liaising with other departments where necessary.
  • Maintain all relevant supplier documentation and administering record-keeping systems.
  • To perform and to undertake any to other ad-hoc duties as assigned and directed by HOD and when necessary.
Job Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years in a Buyer or Purchasing role, preferably within the Manufacturing or Power Industry (added advantage).
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Mandarin and strong communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Inventory Management: Skilled in forecasting, planning, and optimization.
  • Procurement Knowledge: Familiarity with best practices and experience in implementing efficient processes.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
