An educational organization in Malaysia is seeking an IT Support Technician responsible for providing daily technical support for IT hardware and maintaining network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a similar role, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent customer service skills. The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft 365, along with a solid understanding of networking protocols. Willingness to travel for on-site user support is essential.
Provide daily technical support for IT hardware, including PCs, printers, routers, switches, access points, projectors and NAS devices.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems and software applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Maintain and support internet connectivity and network infrastructure to ensure reliable performance across all sites.
Deliver timely on-site support to users at the main office, MCM office, and Wesley Methodist School, including occasional travel as needed.
Oversee system backup and restore processes, ensuring data integrity and security.
Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Manage user accounts, permissions, email systems, and network configurations, including the deactivation of expired accounts as per HR requirements.
Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT systems to ensure optimal security and performance.
Maintain accurate inventory records of all IT hardware, software licenses, and assets.
Assist with procurement of IT equipment and software.
Document support activities, technical solutions, and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate with team members and external vendors to resolve complex IT issues.
Provide end-user training and guidance on IT systems and applications as needed.
Proven experience in a similar role (e.g., IT Support Executive, IT Technician).
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows OS and Office Suite, particularly Outlook.
Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Skilled in diagnosing and resolving a wide range of IT issues independently.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Detail-oriented, especially with respect to inventory tracking and documentation.
Able to work independently and manage multiple support locations effectively.
Customer-focused, with a strong commitment to service excellence.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between supported locations is essential.
Experience working in an education institute.
