Job summary

A prominent brand management company is seeking a Southeast Asia Regional Design Manager to handle design management for stores. Responsibilities include overseeing on-site design queries, coordinating store layout planning, supervising material sampling, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in FMCG store design, be familiar with Malaysian construction standards, and possess strong skills in project management. Job description
Southeast Asia Regional Design Management
  • Oversee site surveys and design queries for SEA direct stores; coordinate with local designers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project completion.
  • Collect competitive & innovative design data across SEA to optimize brand design.
  • Supervise material sampling and irregular inspections across SEA projects.
  • Handle design-related queries and on-site communications for urgent local projects.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by leadership.
Southeast Asia Store Design Work
  • Coordinate store measurement, assist franchisees with on-site verification, check engineering conditions & property requirements, and confirm design details with clients.
  • Plan store layouts, submit plans for review by Deputy Design Director, communicate details with franchisees, and finalize plans.
  • Create store renderings, submit for approval, and coordinate with designers for client presentations.
  • Produce construction drawings, submit for approval by Deputy Design Director & Engineering Dept., noting special requirements.
  • Assist Engineering & Operations teams with drawing modifications during construction changes.
  • Provide dimensions for visual materials, coordinate with brand department, and ensure final approval by Design Director.
Other Work
  • Participate in store completion inspections, either locally on-site or online for other projects.
Requirements
Experience
  • 5+ years in chain restaurant / FMCG store design & project management; capable of independently handling store design & management.
  • Experience with Chinese chain brand international expansion, familiar with domestic construction standards and overseas adaptation differences.
  • Proficient with Malaysian local construction regulations; having local contractor & design institute resources preferred.
Technical & Professional Skills
  • Tools: AutoCAD, 3D software, V-Ray, Photoshop, etc.
  • Management: Risk assessment (climate/materials), emergency handling (measurement errors), cross-department coordination (design/operations/supply chain).
  • Cost Awareness: Modular design mindset, ability to choose optimal materials locally.
  • Legal & Regulatory: Familiar with Malaysian building regulations and government approval processes; know local fire, environmental, and inspection workflows.
