This role serves as both a strategic business partner and a hands‑on Human Resources leader, supporting operations across assigned sites in Malaysia. The position works closely with senior leadership to strengthen organisational effectiveness, workforce capability, and compliance, while embedding disciplined, data‑informed people practices that support sustainable business performance. The role also contributes to broader regional initiatives and supports growth, transformation, and new business start‑ups.
The Challenges
- Partner with site and regional leadership teams to deliver human resources strategies that improve operational effectiveness and organisational readiness.
- Lead, develop, and manage the local Human Resources team, ensuring consistent execution of people strategies aligned with business priorities.
- Analyse workforce and staffing metrics to identify structural gaps, cost optimisation opportunities, and capacity risks; propose and implement practical staffing solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on employment legislation, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with local labour laws.
- Act as a trusted advisor to line managers and department heads on all aspects of human capital management, including performance, engagement, workforce planning, and employee relations.
- Oversee employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and terminations, ensuring fairness, consistency, and confidentiality.
- Manage payroll administration and annual people programmes, including performance management cycles, salary reviews, and bonus processes.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives such as surveys, forums, roundtables, and company‑wide events, using insights to strengthen culture and retention.
- Support business development activities, including contributing to proposals and project‑managing Human Resources components of new site launches or business start‑ups.
- Partner cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, and other stakeholders to ensure people decisions are informed by accurate data and aligned with operational realities.
- Travel to operational sites as required to resolve critical issues, support leaders, and deliver training or interventions.
What It Takes
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline; professional Human Resources certification is advantageous.
- At least eight years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a broad‑based role within logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or a similarly complex operational environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Malaysian labour laws and employment regulations.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing Human Resources teams in multi‑site or fast‑paced environments.
- Proven ability to operate as a strategic partner while remaining hands‑on in execution.
- Strong analytical capability, with experience using workforce data and metrics to inform decision‑making and improve organisational outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the maturity to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
- Well‑developed problem‑solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- High integrity, sound judgement, and a collaborative leadership style aligned with building a disciplined, data‑informed people culture.
