We are seeking a proactive, hands-on, and experienced HR Generalist to establish and manage the HR function for our growing US-based team. As one of the first HR hires, this individual will be instrumental in building HR systems, setting policies, ensuring compliance, and supporting recruitment and employee engagement across both management and operational levels.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a start-up environment, understands the unique challenges of managing direct labor (DL) and indirect labor (IDL) teams, and can build HR practices that scale as the business grows.

HR Setup & Compliance

  • Design and implement foundational HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook in line with Malaysia labor laws.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
  • Set up HRIS and time attendance systems (digital/manual) suitable for growing team needs.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate and manage end-to-end recruitment for both DL and IDL roles.
  • Develop job descriptions, source candidates, conduct initial screenings, and support hiring managers.
  • Create structured onboarding processes to ensure smooth integration of new hires.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Be the first point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture through regular feedback loops and engagement initiatives.
  • Support conflict resolution, attendance, and performance discussions.

HR Operations & Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and documentation.
  • Track leave, attendance, and support payroll processes as needed.
  • Handle employee status changes (new hire, termination, promotion, etc.)

Performance Management & Development

  • Support management in setting performance expectations and conducting reviews.
  • Recommend and implement employee training, upskilling, or safety-related programs as needed for DL/IDL roles.

Future HR Planning

  • Prepare for workforce scaling by advising on structure, benefits, and HR technologies.
  • Build SOPs for HR processes and assist with planning for future HR roles or support functions.

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 4-7 years of HR experience in a generalist role, preferably with exposure to both blue-collar (DL) and white-collar (IDL) environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysia employment laws and compliance standards.
  • Experience in setting up HR systems or processes of start-up environments.
  • Comfortable with hands-on HR tasks and administrative responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, logistics, or service-based companywith DL workforce.
  • Familiar with HRIS system and other HR related tools.
  • Bilingual (English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin as added advantage) especially in diverse labor teams.
  • Understanding of OSHA, time tracking, and safety-related practices.
