A leading packaging company in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia is seeking a Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) Engineer to implement and monitor essential ESH policies and procedures. The role requires conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3-5 years of SheQ experience in manufacturing. Certification in EHS or ISO is preferred, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.
Implement and monitor ESH policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure mitigation controls are implemented.
Ensure compliance with local legal and statutory EHS regulations.
Lead incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Monitor machine safety, fire safety, chemical handling, and PPE compliance.
Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills.
Oversee waste management and environmental monitoring.
Implement and maintain ISO 9001 and Food Safety management systems.
Ensure compliance with FSSC 22000 requirements relevant to packaging materials.
Prepare and control SOPs, work instructions, quality manuals, and records.
Monitor incoming, in‑process, and final product quality of IBC drums.
Support customer audits, certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
Drive CAPA, non‑conformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Plan and conduct internal SHEQ audits.
Coordinate external audits (ISO, FSSC, customer, and statutory).
Ensure timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.
Maintain compliance with customer‑specific quality and safety requirements.
Conduct SHEQ induction and refresher training for employees and contractors.
Promote safety culture, quality awareness, and GMP discipline on the shop floor.
Support competency development related to ESH and quality standards.
Maintain SHEQ KPIs, dashboards, and reports.
Track near misses, incidents, NCRs, and corrective actions.
Ensure proper document control and record retention as per standards.

Statutory compliance
Risk assessment, root cause analysis, and CAPA tools.
Audit and compliance management.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work cross‑functionally with production, maintenance, and quality teams.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Environmental) or equivalent.
Certification in Safety / EHS / ISO Lead Auditor preferred.
3–5 years of experience in SHEQ roles within manufacturing.
Experience with customer and certification audits is mandatory.
