Job description
Who We Are

Taylor’s Education Group ("TEG") is building a scalable multi‑campus school network in the affordable schools segment under the brand name Lexel International School. The Head of Talent (People & Culture) will build a high‑performing talent engine, maintain tight operational HR discipline, and drive a healthy, scalable culture.

This role will be the central Talent leader for all Lexel campuses—responsible for recruiting and retaining great teachers and staff, implementing Group‑wide People & Culture initiatives, ensuring compliance with ministry requirements, building the performance and engagement system, and managing frontline operations. As we scale from our first campus at Gamuda Gardens to a multi‑site network, we are seeking a Head of Talent who can design the talent engine and professional learning system, enabling Principals to execute locally within consistently excellent hiring standards and safeguarding requirements.

If you thrive in fast‑moving environments where building, refining, and scaling systems happen in real time—and you enjoy balancing high‑level strategy with hands‑on troubleshooting—this is your role.

Key Expectations
1. Talent Acquisition & Retention (Primary Focus)
  • Define the “Lexel Teacher Profile” and competency framework aligned to the Lexel learning model.
  • Support Principals in designing campus academic team structures (phase leaders/HoDs, specialist allocation).
  • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for teachers, academic leaders, and administrative staff across all campuses.
  • Standardise selection: structured interviews, demo lessons, reference checks, credential verification, safeguarding checks.
  • Build pipelines of prospective teachers and administrative staff in Malaysia and internationally; manage relationships with recruitment agencies and job platforms.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies, including onboarding frameworks, career pathways, and stay‑interview processes.
  • Partner with Taylor’s University School of Education for practicum placements, internship programs, and graduate‑recruiting pipelines.
  • Monitor workforce planning and staffing ratios to support school growth.
2. People & Culture Program Implementation
  • Act as the primary HR liaison between Lexel International Schools and Taylor’s Education Group’s People & Culture team.
  • Localise and implement Group‑wide initiatives such as leadership development, PD frameworks, engagement programs, compensation benchmarking, and policy updates.
  • Coordinate professional development offerings in partnership with TEG and Taylor’s University School of Education.
3. Performance Management & Staff Engagement
  • Implement Lexel’s performance review system that is aligned to TEG’s People & Culture framework for teachers and staff, ensuring consistent standards and quality calibration across campuses.
  • Equip campus leaders with tools and training for conducting reviews, feedback cycles, and coaching conversations.
  • Develop and run engagement surveys; track engagement KPIs; present insights and action plans to senior leadership.
  • Monitor campus culture health and intervene early where needed.
4. Regulatory Compliance & HR Administration
  • Oversee all submissions and documentation required for new hires, including to the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, and any other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure safe‑recruitment practices and child‑safeguarding compliance.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and credential verification.
  • Prepare HR‑related documentation for campus audits and inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to TEG’s People & Culture reporting requirements.
5. HR Operations & Campus Support
  • Provide dotted‑line management and mentorship to campus‑based HR/admin staff.
  • Manage employee relations issues; advise campus leaders on policy, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.
  • Support payroll inputs, leave administration, and benefits coordination in collaboration with TEG’s People & Culture operations team.
  • Establish HR processes fit for a multi‑campus school model (SOPs, handbooks, compliance checklists, workflows).
  • Any other special assignment. Take on additional projects or duties as assigned by the Director of Programme Management.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Education Management, or related field; HR certifications are a plus.
  2. Minimum 8–10 years HR experience, preferably with at least 3 years in education, multi‑site organisations, or high‑growth environments.
  3. Strong recruitment experience, especially for teaching roles.
  4. Familiarity with Malaysian Ministry of Education/Ministry of Home Affairs processes for teacher approvals and expatriate hires is an advantage.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage culture, engagement, and performance frameworks.
  6. Comfortable operating in a startup‑style school network with evolving systems.
  7. Excellent communication, judgment, and relationship‑building skills.
