Job summary

A leading healthcare company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Head of Risk to shape the local risk culture and support strategic decision-making. This role includes advising senior management on risk management, implementing governance frameworks, and training staff to embed risk awareness. Ideal candidates will have a relevant degree, extensive experience in risk management or corporate governance, and high proficiency in English. Strong leadership and organizational skills are also required.

  • Qualification in Risk Management is an advantage.

As DaVita continues to grow across our International markets, we are strengthening our governance and risk capabilities to ensure we scale responsibly and sustainably. We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced and dynamic professional to join us as Head of Risk.

This role will play a critical part in shaping our local risk culture, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring alignment with our International and Enterprise governance frameworks. The successful candidate will report jointly to the Country General Manager and the International Head of Risk.

  • This role will also required to provide support to DaVita Singapore for a temporary period of approximately 6 to 12 months.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities (Summary)
Risk Advisory & Governance

Advise the General Manager and leadership team on risk identification, assessment, and decision-making.

Maintain and monitor the country’s Risk Appetite and tolerance levels.

Ensure adherence to International Risk Governance Frameworks.

Support implementation of governance frameworks across Clinical, IT, Finance/SOX, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and People Services.

Conduct 2nd Line assurance across clinical, operational, legal, compliance, finance, and IT risks.

Manage approval and delegation processes for policies and procedures.

Lead the governance of the Country Risk Committee and maintain the Country Risk Register.

Prepare and deliver structured risk reporting and escalation to International Headquarters.

Culture Building & Training

Champion and strengthen a proactive risk culture across all levels.

Conduct training to ensure leaders understand and embed risk frameworks into daily operations.

Serve as the primary in-country representative (“face of risk”) for all risk-related matters.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

Partner with local Functional Leaders to align risk frameworks with operational needs.

Collaborate with International Risk and Enterprise Risk Services (Internal Audit).

Support audit activities, management action plans, and policy enhancement.

Strategic Support & Mergers & Acquisitions

Provide risk assessment and due diligence support for local M&A initiatives.

Ensure potential business expansions align with Risk Appetite parameters.

Contribute to Strategy papers, ensuring risk is integrated into planning and execution.

Communication & Reporting

Ensure timely reporting of risks and controls to International Headquarters.

Support the General Manager with governance reporting and preparation of key submissions.

Qualifications

Prior experience in Corporate Governance and/or Risk Management preferably within a reputable firm.

Qualification or academic education in Risk Management is an advantage.

Proven ability to build relationships with senior management and diverse teams across different regions.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, Psychology or Social science or a related field. A Master's degree is advantageous.

High proficiency in English, both written and verbal.

Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Ability to align risk management with organisational strategy and business goals.

Demonstrated leadership in building teams and fostering a culture of compliance and risk awareness.
