Head of Procurement

Reports to: Senior Leadership / Management Committee

About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Procurement to lead our procurement function. This role is critical in driving cost‑efficient procurement strategies, strengthening vendor relationships, ensuring compliance, and supporting the overall business objectives.

As a key member of the Management Committee, you'll shape and execute procurement strategies, ensure timely and cost‑effective sourcing, and work cross‑functionally with technical, legal, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Vendor Management
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Ensure timely contract renewals, cost efficiency, and strong vendor performance.
  • Negotiate terms and manage service‑level agreements to protect the company's commercial and technical interests.
Cost Control & Performance Monitoring
  • Lead cost‑saving initiatives and continuously review procurement processes for improvement.
  • Generate and analyze procurement performance reports for senior management.
Technical Procurement Support
  • Collaborate with technical teams to source OEM parts and evaluate new technology for port systems.
  • Support the procurement of critical items for planned maintenance and obsolete part replacement.
Policy, Compliance & Governance
  • Oversee procurement policies to ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal controls.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal, statutory, and internal requirements.
People & Resource Management
  • Manage and develop procurement team members, set clear KPIs, and provide coaching.
  • Plan departmental budgets and control costs to stay within allocated resources.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the key point of contact for procurement‑related concerns from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with government bodies (e.g., MITI, MIDA, Customs, MOF) on import/export matters.
Problem Solving & Decision‑Making
  • Handle supplier disputes and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Make strategic sourcing, vendor selection, and make‑or‑buy decisions aligned with business needs.
Systems & ERP Management
  • Lead procurement‑related ERP implementation and ensure data integrity and system security.
  • Ensure compliance with information security and IT policies regarding procurement systems.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Procurement, Logistics, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS or CILT are highly desirable.
  • MBA or other leadership certifications are a plus.
Experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in a senior procurement or supply chain leadership role.
  • Strong background in procurement, contracts, inventory management, and cross‑functional collaboration.
