A leading insurance company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Head of PMO & Governance. This role entails leading projects from inception to completion while adhering to Group IT PMO methodology. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project delivery and IT risk management, along with a degree in a relevant field. This permanent position offers the opportunity to drive strategic initiatives and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in Project Delivery.
  • At least 5 years in IT Risk & Governance.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products preferred.

Job Summary

Lead and drive projects/program delivery from preparation to execution and closure by adhering to Group IT PMO methodology for IT related projects

Tracking and controlling key strategic project metrics of scope, time, cost and quality as well as meeting or exceeding business expectation

  • Project Management
  • Drive and deliver project using either waterfall or Agile/Scrum or hybrid methodology
  • Accountable to prepare and plan project from scope, time, cost & quality aspect and to obtain approval to commence project execution
  • Accountable to drive and complete mandatory project documentation such as business case, project charter, project plan, test plan, lesson learnt, etc
  • Lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members and vendor partners (if applicable) to drive and complete project preparation and execution activities and deliverables
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making
  • Lead, manage and drive successful project execution activities and deliverables
  • Manage and address project conflict, issues, risks and expectation and ensure they are escalated or addressed on a timely manner
  • Track & monitor project actual schedule and cost against planned and take corrective or preventive measures to ensure on track
  • Track and manage project change request via governance model to safeguard agreed project scope
  • Develop communication plan to ensure key stakeholders are updated consistently and within expectation
  • Provide periodic and timely status progress update of project.
  • Plan and drive successful handover activities from project to BIT support team to ensure on time project closure
  • Comply with GE Group IT Project Management Methodology for IT related project
  • Oversee, manage and plan required augmented contract resources to deliver strategic projects/initiatives
PMO
  • Set direction and lead, drive and motivate team members to achieve project objectives
  • Think strategically and device long lasting solution and translate to tactical and operational tasks.
  • Able to influence opinions and decisions when working closely with internal & external stakeholders
  • Able to remove impediments, protect the team and inspire high sense of self-organization high performance within the team
  • Not afraid to speak up and stand up for the overall good
  • Project Management – Accountable in ensuring successful execution and project delivery according to agreed budget & timeline which in line with business objectives
  • Working closely with HOD to initiate, plan, develop and implement strategy from O&T department in supporting the spearheading of digital plan for GEGM
The Person
  • Degree Holder in Computer Science, Information Technology or any other related disciplines
  • PMP/PRINCE2 preferred
  • At least 10 years working experience in a Project Delivery,
  • At least 5 years working experience in IT Risk & Governance capacity
  • Good understanding of insurance products and service preferred
  • Good supervisory and organizational skills
