A leading green energy firm in Malaysia is seeking a Head of Green Asset Management to oversee the development and optimization of various green energy projects. Head, Green Asset Management is responsible for overseeing the development, management, and optimization of green energy assets, including Waste-to-Energy (WTE), biomass, biogas, bioCNG/LNG, small hydro power plant and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role involves strategic planning, project execution, operational management, and financial oversight to ensure sustainable, cost-effective, and high-performing green energy projects. The incumbent will drive business growth, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement to support the company’s sustainability objectives.
Lead the conceptual design studies, feasibility studies, site selection and technical due diligence for development and acquisition of new green asset projects.
Lead and structure processes for EPC tendering projects, negotiations with EPC contractors, FiT bidding projects, PPA negotiations and overall power project development.
Develop and implement business strategies for WTE, biomass, biogas, bioCNG/LNG and BESS projects.
Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory and technical standards in project development.
Identify funding opportunities, grants and incentives for green asset investments.
Participate in technical due diligence assignments and prepare internal report as required.
Lead and structure processes for technical scope, including Project Management, Design Review, Construction Supervision and Commissioning Supervision until COD.
Oversee the end-to-end execution of green energy projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
Manage EPC contracts, ensuring quality, cost and schedule adherence.
Implement risk assessment and mitigation strategies for project execution.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors and investors.
Establish performance KPIs for operational efficiency, reliability and profitability of green assets.
Oversee and ensure the O&M (Operations & Maintenance) activities to maximize asset lifespan and returns.
Implement digitalization and data analytics for real-time asset monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational sustainability.
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial viability and profitability.
Negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Feed-in Tariff (FiT) and other revenue models.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across assets.
Conduct financial analysis and reporting to senior management and investors.
Ensure all projects comply with environmental, safety and legal requirements.
Work with regulators, policymakers and industry associations to influence sustainable energy policies.
Implement ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) best practices in asset management.
Build strong relationships with investors, government bodies, technology providers and industry partners.
Lead business development efforts to expand the company's portfolio of green assets.
Represent the company at industry conferences, forums and regulatory discussions.
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Environmental or related fields)
Professional Certifications such as PE/Ir (BEM), PMI-PMP, RE/REEM (SEDA/MGTC), ISO related certifications or ESG/Sustainability certifications are highly preferred.
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in renewable energy, power plant development or green asset operations, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial or head of function role.
Highly driven individual with strong strategic planning and decisive decision-making skills.
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage high-value projects.
Excellent stakeholder management with government agencies, EPCs and investors.
Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
