A leading financial management firm in Shah Alam is seeking a Group Accountant to oversee the financial management and reporting across all entities. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of finance experience, with a strong focus on internal controls, financial compliance, and managing a small team. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, leadership ability, and must be proficient in both English and a Chinese dialect. A competitive salary range of RM10,000 to RM15,000 is offered, depending on experience.

Job Title : Group Accountant
Reports To : Managing Director
Location : Head Office, Glenmarie, Shah Alam
Work Arrangement : Fully Onsite

Job Purpose: To lead and oversee the financial management, reporting, and internal control systems across the Group. The role ensures accurate, timely reporting, regulatory compliance, and support strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial insights, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management, with the ultimate objective of optimizing Group profitability and financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
1. Group Financial Oversight
  • Manage and prepare financial accounts across all Group entities.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with relevant financial, tax, and audit regulations (e.g., transfer pricing documentation, stamping requirements, SST, and LHDN matters).
  • Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements and liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities.
2. Management & Internal Reporting
  • Prepare timely and accurate management accounts, including performance dashboards, sales analysis, margin tracking, and cost control reports.
  • Lead and support Group-wide budgeting and forecasting exercises.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and profitability strategies.
3. Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Establish, implement, and maintain Group-wide internal control systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Periodically review SOPs to mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Coordinate with external auditors on internal control matters and ensure timely follow-up and closure of audit findings, keeping senior management fully informed.
4. Supervision of Finance and Administrative Support
  • Oversee finance tasks performed by a small team comprising a finance and administrative staff.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in financial reporting, even where dedicated finance staff are limited.
  • Guide, review, improve work related to data entry, documentation, and accounting procedures.
  • Promote adherence to financial policies and timely reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in building financial discipline and alignment across entities.
5. Treasury & Cash Flow Management
  • Monitor Group cash flow, banking facilities, and credit arrangements.
  • Ensure adequate funding and optimise inter-company transactions.
  • Review and authorise major payments.
6. Special Projects & Group Initiatives
  • Conduct financial due diligence and evaluate business cases.
  • Lead financial system upgrades or ERP implementations or process improvement projects.
7. Ad Hoc & Strategic Assignments
  • Undertake additional responsibilities or assignments from the Group CFO or Managing Director as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's egree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a senior financial management or Group accounting role.
  • Demonstrated success in financial analysis, strategic planning, and managing financial operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, ACCA, etc.).
  • Experience in a trading, distribution, or industrial company environment.
Technical Skills
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
Soft Skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the capability to convey complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and resilient mindset, with a strong commitment to integrity, accountability, and ownership.
Language & Strong Preferences
  • English Proficiency: Minimum mid-level spoken and written English is mandatory, as company owners are English-speaking and management reports are prepared in English should be supported by stronger English communication skills.
  • Chinese Language: Fluency in at least one Chinese dialect (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, etc.) is strongly preferred, given the predominantly Chinese-speaking industry stakeholders and China’s importance in the global market.
  • Leadership & Cultural Fit: Strong preference for candidates with experience in rebuilding teams, fostering a positive working culture, and demonstrating strong ownership and accountability. References will be required, as the Company highly values individuals who are responsible, team-oriented, and capable of building strong, trust-based working relationships.
Salary Range
  • Budgeted Range: RM10,000 – RM15,000
  • For candidates at the upper end of the salary range, the Company expects demonstrated leadership capability and exposure beyond core accounting responsibilities, such as:
