Job summary

A leading Malaysian company is looking for a Governance and Compliance Officer in Kuala Lumpur. This role is critical for ensuring adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, developing governance frameworks, and promoting an integrity-driven culture. The ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years of experience in governance or compliance and a strong background in corporate regulations. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business, or Accounting are preferred.

Job description

To strengthen and uphold the Group’s governance, compliance and ethical framework through effective policies, monitoring and advisory. The role ensures adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements while promoting/safeguarding the Company’s transparency, accountability and an integrity-driven culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Corporate Governance – Develop, implement, and maintain governance frameworks, policies and practices aligned with Bursa Malaysia’s Listing Requirements, Companies Act 2016, MCCG, AMLA, PDPA, etc.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Monitor compliance with relevant laws and liaise with lawyers and regulators, when necessary. Identify emerging changes and communicate updates.
  • Integrity & Ethics – Implement the Group Integrity Plan, lead implementation of Anti-Corruption framework, including Section 17A compliance. Manage whistleblowing mechanism and investigations. Successful rollout of integrity programmes.
  • Policy Enhancement – Review and streamline policies and procedures and develop new ones as necessary. Champion the ISO 9001: 2026 implementation.
  • Monitoring & Reporting – Oversee enterprise-wide risk management and ensure effective risk mitigation and reporting processes. Conduct compliance reviews and prepare dashboards for GMD and Board Committees, whenever necessary.
