Job description

Lead all gemological processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

• Identify and grade a wide range of gemstones with precision.
• Assess and document gemstone characteristics such as colour, cut, clarity, and overall quality.
• Develop and implement robust quality assurance measures for gemstone evaluation.
• Oversee calibration and maintenance of gemological equipment.
• Collaborate with jewellery designers, production teams, and management to integrate gemology into design and production workflows.
• Advise management on gemstone selection, sourcing, and quality considerations for strategic decisions.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for gemological tasks.
• Train and mentor staff on gemological best practices and SOP compliance.
• Liaise with vendors to evaluate and recommend advanced gemological testing equipment.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Gemology or related field, with professional certification in gemology.
• Proven experience as a Gemologist, preferably in luxury jewellery or gemstone trading.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage gemological operations and guide teams.
• In-depth knowledge of gemstone identification, grading, and testing techniques.
• Familiarity with modern gemological equipment and technology.
• Excellent organisational, project management, and decision‑making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, including experience working with senior management.
