A finance-focused technology company located in Penang is seeking a Finance Executive responsible for managing comprehensive finance functions including company setups, daily accounting, and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance, with 3 to 6 years of relevant experience. Key responsibilities include budget preparation, financial reporting, and tax compliance. Strong knowledge of accounting software and Excel is essential. The Finance Executive is responsible for managing the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions for the company, including initial company financial setup, daily accounting operations, statutory compliance, financial reporting, and internal controls. Acts as the primary on-site finance representative to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial management.
Assist in establishing the company’s financial framework, including chart of accounts, accounting policies, and reporting structures.
Support the implementation of finance SOPs, internal controls, and approval matrices.
Coordinate the setup of bank accounts, payment platforms, and finance-related service.
Maintain a full set of accounts, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.
Ensure proper classification of expenses, revenues, assets, and liabilities.
Perform monthly closing activities and ensure timely month-end close.
Monitor daily cash balances and bank positions.
Verify supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Process payments, including bank transfers, cheques, and online payment platforms.
Maintain vendor master data and reconcile supplier statements.
Monitor payment schedules and manage cash outflows.
Issue customer invoices and debit/credit notes.
Track receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
Perform customer account reconciliations.
Support revenue recognition and billing accuracy.
Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
Prepare schedules and supporting documents for management review.
Provide financial data and explanations to management upon request.
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budget.
Identify variances and provide explanations for review by the Finance Controller.
Support cost control initiatives and spending analysis.
Prepare and submit statutory filings (e.g. GST/VAT/SST, withholding tax, payroll-related filings).
Coordinate with external tax agents on corporate income tax matters.
Maintain proper tax schedules and supporting documentation.
Monitor changes in tax regulations and highlight impact to the Finance Controller.
Diploma / Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–6 years of relevant experience, preferably in company setup or standalone finance roles.
Experience with accounting software and Excel.
Knowledge of local statutory and tax requirements is an advantage.
