The Field Service Manager (Slickline) is responsible for overseeing slickline field operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery to clients. This role manages personnel, equipment, and operational planning while maintaining compliance with company policies, client requirements, and industry safety standards.
This position will be based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service Delivery
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise slickline operations for offshore and onshore projects.
- Ensure jobs are executed according to approved procedures, job programs, and client specifications.
- Monitor job performance, troubleshoot operational issues, and provide technical support to field crews.
- Review job reports, post-job documentation, and lessons learned.
Team Leadership & Personnel Management
- Lead, coach, and supervise slickline supervisors, operators, and crew members.
- Manage crew scheduling, mobilisation, demobilisation, and rotation planning.
- Conduct competency assessments, performance reviews, and on-the-job training.
- Promote strong safety culture and professional conduct at all times.
HSE & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with HSE policies, client standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, and safety meetings.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all personnel certifications and training are valid.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Oversee maintenance, inspection, and readiness of slickline tools and equipment.
- Ensure proper calibration, certification, and documentation of tools.
- Coordinate with maintenance and logistics teams for repairs and spares.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the main operational contact with clients during job execution.
- Attend pre-job and post-job meetings with clients.
- Support business development by providing technical input and operational feedback.
Reporting & Administration
- Review and approve field reports, timesheets, and operational records.
- Ensure accurate job costing, resource utilisation, and operational KPIs.
- Support audits and management reviews as required.
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering or related technical field (preferred).
- Valid slickline well control certification.
- Offshore safety certifications (e.g. BOSIET/FOET, Medical, as applicable).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of slickline experience, with 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong experience in offshore slickline operations (Malaysia/Sabah field experience is an advantage).
- Proven track record managing crews and complex slickline jobs.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Solid technical knowledge of slickline tools, fishing, setting/pulling operations, and well intervention practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Good understanding of HSE management systems and client compliance requirements.
Working Conditions
- Based in Kota Kinabalu with frequent offshore assignments.
- Willing to work extended hours and rotational schedules as required.
