Job description

This is a full-time Failure Analysis / Debug Manager role at ASTRODYNE TDI SDN. BHD. based in Perai, Penang. As the Failure Analysis / Debug Manager, you will lead FA team in managing RMA investigations, manufacturing defect analysis, and quality‑related issue resolution. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire failure analysis process, from root cause identification to preparing and delivering technical reports and for communicating findings directly with customers to ensure timely, accurate, and professional feedback. The FA Manager will work closely with design, engineering, and quality teams to drive corrective and preventive actions that enhance product reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Failure Analysis team, overseeing daily operations, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely completion of investigations.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute in-depth failure investigations for field returns (RMA), manufacturing defects, and quality‑related issues.
• Analyze and interpret failure data, identify root causes, and prepare comprehensive technical reports for engineering, quality, and customer communication.
• Directly interface with customers, providing timely updates, technical explanations, and RCA findings.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Quality, and Production teams to ensure findings are translated into effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Review and approve FA reports before submission to customers or internal stakeholders.
• Develop and implement standard FA methodologies, processes, and documentation to improve turnaround time and analysis accuracy.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• At least 10 years of experience in debug/failure analysis with at least 5 years in a leadership/management role and preferably in an electronics or power industry.
• Preferably IPC-7711 Certified and Lean Manufacturing (added advantage).
• In‑depth understanding of power supply design and operation, including AC‑DC and DC‑DC conversion principles.
• Familiarity with reliability and environmental testing (HASS, HALT, burn‑in, thermal cycling, vibration).
